The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned.
Maya Angelou
Welcome.
It is important to feel at home with your therapist. Whether you heard about me from a friend, your doctor, or someone else, I hope that this site helps you decide whether you would feel comfortable working with me.
I am a male psychologist with an office in the Rockridge area of Oakland, near Berkeley. I work with individual adults, families with children, teens and couples. In therapy, I help people with issues such as depression, social anxiety, panic attacks, bipolar disorder, anger management, addiction, adjustment to new parenthood, grief, and loss.
As a therapist, I believe that people have an inherent desire to be the best, happiest people they can be. Over time, we all develop operating principles that guide our actions and reactions. When these principles work, that’s great, but when they don’t, it can be hard to recognize them and why they aren’t working.
I became a psychologist because I believe that our purpose in life is to live as fully as we can, that unblocking our ‘stuck’ places naturally unleashes our potential for growth, and that often therapy is the most direct way of achieving this goal. I deeply respect the people I see in therapy – their belief in their ability to change, and their willingness to work on their painful, ‘stuck’ places. I feel blessed and lucky to be part of this work and I am honored by the trust my clients give me.
Often, talking on the phone a bit is helpful. If you would like, call me at (510) 495-5080.
I look forward to talking with you.
